Job Description

Alimat Care Foundation (ACF) is a youth-led, non-governmental organization established in 2020 and officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2022. The organization works to advance the rights, welfare, and empowerment of women and girls in Northeast Nigeria, with a strong focus on underserved and conflict-affected communities.

ACF designs and implements comprehensive, evidence-based programmes rooted in the principles of

Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP)
and
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)
. Our work spans girls’ education, prevention of violence and harmful practices, youth leadership, climate justice, and women’s empowerment. We strive to create enabling environments where girls are protected, educated, empowered, and supported to thrive and actively contribute to their communities.

ACF is anticipating funding for a

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Project
to be implemented in
Mubi North, Mubi South, Michika, and Maiha Local Government Areas of Adamawa State
. To support the effective implementation of this project, ACF invites applications from qualified, committed, and values-driven individuals for the following positions:
Position Summary

The Advocacy Officer will lead advocacy and movement-building components of the SRHR project. The role focuses on influencing policies, strengthening community voices, and engaging duty bearers to improve SRHR outcomes for women, girls, and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advocacy strategies aligned with project objectives.
  • Support youth and women-led advocacy initiatives at community and LGA levels.
  • Engage policymakers, traditional and religious leaders, and government institutions on SRHR commitments.
  • Facilitate advocacy dialogues, policy roundtables, and public engagement activities.
  • Monitor policy developments related to SRHR at local and state levels.
  • Document advocacy outcomes, commitments, and changes influenced by the project.
  • Collaborate with civil society networks and coalitions on SRHR advocacy.
  • Contribute to reports, policy briefs, and advocacy learning products.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Political Science, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in advocacy, policy engagement, or social accountability work.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging government institutions and community leaders.
  • Strong understanding of SRHR, gender equality, and rights-based advocacy.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite, is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Strong knowledge of
    policy advocacy, civic engagement, and social accountability
  • Ability to engage policymakers, traditional and religious leaders
  • Experience in
    campaign planning and advocacy strategy development
  • Skills in mobilizing youth, women, and community groups
  • Persuasive communication and negotiation skills
  • Confidence in public speaking and representation
  • Political awareness and ethical judgment
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
