Auto Bodywork Specialist (Panel Beater) at ABM Tek Limited

The Automotive Body Work Specialist (Panel Beater) is responsible for repairing, reshaping, and restoring damaged vehicle body panels to manufacturer standards. The role involves accident repair, dent removal, panel replacement, structural alignment, and surface preparation before painting. The specialist ensures all body repairs meet safety, quality, and aesthetic standards.

Damage Assessment

• Inspect vehicles to assess structural and cosmetic damage.
• Identify whether panels require repair or replacement.
• Provide accurate repair estimates and timelines.
• Document pre-repair vehicle condition.

 Body Repair & Restoration

• Repair dents, creases, and collision damage.
• Remove and replace damaged panels.
• Straighten vehicle frames and chassis using alignment equipment.
• Use welding equipment for structural repairs.
• Reshape metal panels using specialized tools (hammers, dollies, pullers, etc.).

Surface Preparation

• Fill dents using body filler.
• Sand and smooth repaired areas.
• Prepare surfaces for painting.
• Ensure proper alignment of doors, bonnets, bumpers, and fenders.

Equipment & Tool Handling

• Operate hydraulic pullers, welding machines, frame straightening machines, and power tools.
• Maintain tools in safe working condition.
• Follow workshop safety procedures at all times.

Quality Control

• Ensure repaired vehicles meet manufacturer specifications.
• Check panel gaps and alignment accuracy.
• Conduct final inspection before releasing vehicle to paint department or customer.

Workplace Standards

• Maintain clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to workshop policies and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with painters, mechanics, and service advisors.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of vehicle body structure and materials.
• Skilled in dent removal and metal shaping techniques.
• Ability to operate welding and frame alignment equipment.
• Good eye for detail and symmetry.
• Ability to work under deadlines.
• Strong problemsolving skills.

• Minimum of 3–5 years experience as a panel beater.
• Technical certification in automotive body repair (preferred).
• Experience working with modern vehicles (including aluminum and highstrength steel bodies).
• Ability to read vehicle repair manuals and specifications.
