Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Card Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, integration, and maintenance of our card processing systems, with a strong focus on ensuring seamless operations with key card schemes.

Job Responsibility

Design, develop, and maintain secure and scalable card processing systems and integrations with our core banking platforms and payment gateways.
Lead the technical integration with card schemes such as Afrigo and Verve, ensuring seamless transaction processing, authorization, and settlement.
Implement and enforce robust security measures and compliance with industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS) to safeguard cardholder data.
Provide expert-level technical support, troubleshoot complex card-related issues, and optimize system performance and reliability.
Collaborate with product, operations, and compliance teams to define technical requirements, innovate new card products, and enhance existing functionalities.
Develop comprehensive documentation for system architectures, APIs, and operational procedures to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer.

Job Requirements

Proven professional experience in software development with strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
Hands-on experience with card scheme integrations, specifically
Afrigo and Verve
, including their APIs, protocols, and technical specifications.
Solid understanding of payment processing workflows, card lifecycle management (issuance, activation, transaction processing, settlement), and security standards (e.g., PCI DSS).
Knowledge of Node.js is a significant plus.
Proven experience (3+ years) in card systems development or engineering within the financial services sector, preferably with microfinance or retail banking experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an acute attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
