Job Description
Position Summary
- The Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) provides essential primary healthcare services, health education, and community outreach programs.
- They support doctors, nurses, and other health professionals in promoting preventive care and delivering basic medical services at community level.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic medical care including first aid, wound dressing, and treatment of minor ailments.
- Support maternal and child health programs (antenatal care, immunizations, family planning, safe delivery assistance).
- Conduct community outreach programs to educate people on hygiene, nutrition, sanitation, and disease prevention.
- Assist in screening and managing communicable and non-communicable diseases (malaria, TB, HIV, hypertension, diabetes, etc.).
- Administer prescribed medications and injections as directed by supervising health professionals.
