About the job
- The General Manager will lead Fieldbase’s Maritime Connectivity & Electronics business, driving transformative growth, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction across Nigeria and regional maritime markets.
- The role will oversee sales, service delivery, partner management, and operationsfor our portfolio ofmaritime broadband and vessel electronics, including LEOSatellite Connectivity, VSAT, AIS, radar, GMDSS, onboard CCTV, and integrated vessel electronic systems.
- The GM will be accountable for revenue growth, profitability, regulatory compliance, and market expansioninto shipping, offshore oil & gas, and government sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the business strategy for maritime connectivity.
- Identify new service lines, expansion opportunities, and partnerships.
- Drive growth into West and Central Africa markets.
Sales & Business Development
- Deliver sales and profitability targets for maritime services.
- Build client relationships with shipowners, offshore operators, and regulators.
- Negotiate and close major service contracts and long-term agreements.
- Ensure sales teams are equipped and aligned to targets.
Operations & Service Delivery
- Oversee design, installation, and integration of vessel connectivity and electronics.
- Ensure compliance with IMO, SOLAS, and HSE standards.
- Monitor service delivery KPIs and client SLAs.
- Manage offshore logistics and aftersales support programs.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
- Approve project bids, commercial terms, and proposals.
- Ensure profitability and efficiency of all operations.
People Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of engineers, project managers, and sales staff.
- Build a culture of safety, innovation, and customer commitment.
- Ensure training and certification compliance (offshore, HSE, technical).
- Drive accountability and long-term talent development.
Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure operations comply with maritime, telecoms, and trade regulations.
- Maintain strong relationships with NIMASA, NCC, and maritime regulators.
- Represent Fieldbase in maritime industry events and technical forums.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Electronics, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years’ professional experience, with 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Proven record of transformative business leadershipin a regulated or complex industry (oil & gas, energy, telecoms, maritime, logistics, technology, etc.).
- Strong P&L ownership, operational scale-up, and market expansion experience.
- Offshore or field-based operations management is an advantage.
