Job Description
Nenu is a clean energy manufacturing company focused on the production and scale-up of
clean and improved cookstoves
that reduce fuel consumption, indoor air pollution, and carbon emissions.
We are looking to recruit a
Graduate Trainee – Mechanical Engineer
to support our cookstove manufacturing and production operations. This role is designed for recent graduates who are eager to gain hands-on factory experience
, develop strong mechanical engineering skills, and contribute to climate-impact projects.
The trainee will receive structured on-the-job training across fabrication, assembly, quality control, and basic production engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the fabrication and assembly of improved cookstove components
- Assist in production line setup, workflow improvement, and basic production planning
- Support routine maintenance and troubleshooting of fabrication equipments
- Support quality control checks to ensure stoves meet design and performance standards
- Assist with documentation of production processes, SOPs, etc
- Support pilot deployments and field feedback integration into design improvements
- Comply with factory safety, quality, and environmental procedures
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve output
- Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- B.Eng / B.Sc / HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 0–2 years experience
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, welding, machining)
- Interest in clean energy, climate solutions, or sustainable manufacturing
- Willingness to work in a factory and occasionally support field activities
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD or SolidWorks

- Basic mechanical troubleshooting ability

- Problem-solving and continuous improvement orientation
- Safety-conscious attitude
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools is an advantage
