Job Description
Our ideal Green House and Open Field Supervisor focuses on cultivation and management of plant life to ensure optimal growth and productivity.
- Organization: An NGO with a mission in agroforestry.
- Location: Dama-kusa village, Kwali Area Council, FCT
- This role requires the incumbent to work on ‘on site’
- The role reports to Farm Manager, Production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crop Management: Oversee the planting, nurturing and harvesting of vegetables, herbs and fruits, adhering to best horticultural practices to achieve robust yields.
- Environmental Control: Regulate greenhouse conditions such as temperature, humidity and light to create an optimal environment for diverse plant species.
- Pest and Disease Management: Monitor plant health regularly, implementing integrated pest management strategies to prevent and address infestations and diseases.
- Resource Allocation: Manage the scheduling and supervision of greenhouse staff, ensuring efficient task delegation and adherence to cultivation timelines.
- Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Ensure all greenhouse equipment and infrastructure are maintained in good working order, coordinating repairs and routine upkeep as necessary.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of planting schedules, growth progress, environmental conditions and harvest outcomes to inform future cultivation strategies.
- Sales Coordination: Collaborate with sales or marketing teams to align production with market demand, ensuring the availability of produce for sale to visitors or distribution channels.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- SSCE/Diploma/NCE with relevant experience and background in horticulture or green house management.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in horticulture management.
Subject Matter Expertise:
- A strong understanding of Crop Management: Oversee the planting, nurturing and harvesting of vegetables, herbs and fruits, adhering to best horticultural practices to achieve robust yields.
- Good Environmental Control: Regulate greenhouse conditions such as temperature, humidity and light to create an optimal environment for diverse plant species
- Ability to analyse data, identify problems and develop effective solutions.
- Record keeping: Maintain detailed records of planting schedules, growth progress, environmental conditions and harvest outcomes to inform future cultivation
- Sales Coordination: Collaborate with sales or marketing teams to align production with market demand, ensuring the availability of produce for sale to visitors or distribution channels.
