Job Description

Our ideal Green House and Open Field Supervisor focuses on cultivation and management of plant life to ensure optimal growth and productivity. 

  • Organization: An NGO with a mission in agroforestry.
  • Location: Dama-kusa village, Kwali Area Council, FCT
  • This role requires the incumbent to work on ‘on site’ 
  • The role reports to Farm Manager, Production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crop Management: Oversee the planting, nurturing and harvesting of vegetables, herbs and fruits, adhering to best horticultural practices to achieve robust yields.​
  •  Environmental Control: Regulate greenhouse conditions such as temperature, humidity and light to create an optimal environment for diverse plant species.​
  • Pest and Disease Management: Monitor plant health regularly, implementing integrated pest management strategies to prevent and address infestations and diseases.​
  • Resource Allocation: Manage the scheduling and supervision of greenhouse staff, ensuring efficient task delegation and adherence to cultivation timelines.​
  • Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Ensure all greenhouse equipment and infrastructure are maintained in good working order, coordinating repairs and routine upkeep as necessary.​
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of planting schedules, growth progress, environmental conditions and harvest outcomes to inform future cultivation strategies.
  • Sales Coordination: Collaborate with sales or marketing teams to align production with market demand, ensuring the availability of produce for sale to visitors or distribution channels.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background: 

  • SSCE/Diploma/NCE with relevant experience and background in horticulture or green house management. 

Experience: 

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in horticulture management. 

Subject Matter Expertise: 

  • A strong understanding of Crop Management: Oversee the planting, nurturing and harvesting of vegetables, herbs and fruits, adhering to best horticultural practices to achieve robust yields.  
  • Good Environmental Control: Regulate greenhouse conditions such as temperature, humidity and light to create an optimal environment for diverse plant species 
  • Ability to analyse data, identify problems and develop effective solutions. 
  • Record keeping: Maintain detailed records of planting schedules, growth progress, environmental conditions and harvest outcomes to inform future cultivation
  • Sales Coordination: Collaborate with sales or marketing teams to align production with market demand, ensuring the availability of produce for sale to visitors or distribution channels.
