Job Description

Maplecrest Advisory is seeking a Legal Research and Publications Associate to support the development of high-level legal content and international journal publications.

This role focuses on producing structured, analytical, and publication-ready legal work across immigration law, business law, and criminal law, with an emphasis on comparative and policy-driven analysis.

The successful candidate will play a key role in building authoritative legal publications and contributing to international journal submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth legal research across Canadian and U.S. immigration law, business regulation, and criminal law
  • Prepare journal-quality legal manuscripts suitable for international publication
  • Draft legal articles, commentary, and structured analytical papers
  • Identify appropriate international journals and manage submission processes
  • Repurpose research work into articles for professional platforms such as Medium and LinkedIn
  • Ensure accuracy, proper citation, and high-level legal reasoning in all written work
  • Meet weekly and monthly content delivery targets

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) is required; LL.M is an advantage
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in legal research or legal writing
  • Demonstrated experience in writing or publishing legal articles
  • Applicants with international journal publications will be strongly preferred
  • Ability to write clear, structured, and analytical legal content
  • Strong understanding of legal research methods and citation standards
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently

Additional Advantage

  • Prior publications on platforms such as SSRN, ResearchGate, or academic journals
  • Experience in comparative legal analysis (immigration, business, or criminal law)

Performance Expectations

Candidates will be expected to produce structured weekly outputs including research drafts, articles, and journal manuscripts aligned with publication timelines
