Job Description
Job Summary:
Mshel Construction Limited is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Procurement/Quantity surveying Officer to join our team. The Procurement/Quantity surveying Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating the company's procurement activities, ensuring timely, Project Contract Management and cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and services.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent negotiation skills, vendor management abilities, and a strong understanding of procurement a best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to support the company's operations and goals.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive prices and terms for materials and services.
- Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, including RFQs, purchase orders, and supplier contracts.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions and monitor supplier performance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine procurement needs and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve procurement efficiency.
- Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and best practices in procurement.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, including material schedules and equipment requirements, and subcontractor costs.
- Measure and quantify construction work completed for progress payments and final accounts.
- Analyze and validate contractor, subcontractor, and supplier claims.
- Participate in project cost control, forecasting, and reporting to the project management team.
- Identify risks and opportunities related to construction costs and provide recommendations.
- Assist with preparing tender documents, contract negotiations, and change orders.
- Maintain comprehensive project cost records and documentation.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure timely and accurate cost management.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to the project team on cost-related matters.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in quantity survey, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing techniques, and contract management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software.
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management is a plus.
- Understanding of construction contracts, regulations, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and cost estimation techniques.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
