Job Summary

  • An Advanced Security Adviser in a Nigerian oil and gas company develops and implements security strategies to protect personnel, assets, and operations from threats like theft, sabotage, and militancy.
  • Key responsibilities include risk assessment, intelligence analysis, security contractor management, and liaison with government security agencies (JTF) to ensure safe operations.

Job Description

  • Strategic Security Management: Formulate, implement, and monitor comprehensive security policies, protocols, and emergency response plans across all oil and gas operational sites (onshore/offshore).
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct in-depth security risk assessments for assets, personnel, and new project sites; develop mitigation strategies, including security audits and vulnerability studies.
  • Intelligence Analysis: Analyze security trends, incidents, and threat intelligence in the Nigerian Niger Delta and surrounding areas to provide actionable advice to management.
  • Government/Community Liaison: Act as the primary liaison with Nigerian security forces (JTF, Police, NSCDC) to facilitate security support, while maintaining positive relationships with host communities to prevent disruptions.
  • Contractor/Guard Force Management: Supervise third-party security providers, ensuring compliance with international standards (e.g., Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights) and company policies.
  • Incident Management: Lead the response to security incidents, managing crisis situations, conducting investigations, and preparing detailed security reports.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Experience: 10-15 years in corporate security within the oil and gas sector, with significant experience in high-risk environments.
  • Skills: Exceptional crisis management, intelligence analysis, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in security technologies.
  • Background: Experience working with security agencies or armed forces is a significant advantage.
