Job Description
The Store Inventory Office will be responsible for all operations related to Store and inventory management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and issue technical store items (including turbine spares, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical spares, tools, and consumables) in line with approved procedures and documentation.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory catalogue, including material descriptions, specifications, part numbers, and storage locations.
- Assist in forecasting inventory requirements and maintaining adequate stock levels to support uninterrupted power plant operations.
- Generate purchase requisitions for materials that reached their reorder levels
- Conduct routine stock counts and physical inventory checks; report discrepancies, out-of-stock items, and slow-moving materials to the Stores Manager.
- Obtain necessary acknowledgements and sign-offs on delivery notes from suppliers and transport personnel.
- Prepare storage locations and ensure proper labelling, preservation, and housekeeping of technical materials.
- Ensure safe custody and proper handling of power plant spare parts, tools, and consumables.
- Assist in preparing inventory reports and providing routine updates to management.
- Maintain proper filing and security of documents related to requisitions, receipts, issues, and returns.
- Liaise with maintenance, procurement teams, and other internal stakeholders to support effective store operations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures required in the warehouse.
- Reports near misses, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behaviour within and outside the work area
- Participate in periodic hazards identification and detailed risk assessment in the work area as applicable.
Education and Work Experience
- Minimum of B.Sc/HND in Engineering, Numerical Sciences, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5years of experience in a technical store, warehouse, or inventory role, preferably within a power plant, oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Basic knowledge of power plant equipment and spare parts (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
- Certification in Store Management, Inventory Control, or Materials Management will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems (ERP, IBM Maximo, or similar tools) is desirable.
Skills and Competencies
- Basic understanding of technical materials and spare parts used in power generation facilities.
- Good documentation, record-keeping, and organisational skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, inventory systems).
- Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
- Willingness to learn and work under supervision.
