Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
- The Assistant Lecturer in MLS is a clinical-academic apprentice, trained to combine diagnostic accuracy, laboratory discipline, biosafety consciousness and scientific inquiry, while being developed into a future diagnostic scientist, educator and innovator serving Africa’s health systems.
- The purpose of this job is to support undergraduate teaching and laboratory instruction, participate in research and diagnostic quality-improvement activities, and pursue advanced academic development towards full lecturing responsibilities in Medical Laboratory Science.

Minimum Qualifications
- B.MLS from a recognised university and
- M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science (or relevant MLS specialty) or firm evidence of enrolment/progress at appointment (where permitted).
- Current MLSCN registration and valid practising licence.
Academic Qualifications (Mandatory)
- B.MLS from a recognised university and
- M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science (or relevant MLS specialty) or firm evidence of enrolment/progress at appointment (where permitted).
- Current MLSCN registration and valid practising licence.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
- 3 years post-qualification experience (clinical, diagnostic or academic).
- Teaching assistantship/clinical bench experience is an advantage.
- Student/Associate membership of recognised MLS or biomedical bodies encouraged.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Laboratory discipline; diagnostic reasoning; biosafety and QA/QC awareness; teamwork; digital literacy (LIS/basic molecular tools).
