Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring compliance with internal policies and statutory regulations. The ideal candidate will assist in budgeting, financial reporting, and day-to-day financial management activities, contributing to the efficiency and integrity of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Support payroll preparation and related financial documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports in compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and support audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Keep abreast of financial regulations, tax laws, and best practices relevant to the organization.
  • Liaise with banks, vendors, and relevant regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Support donor reporting and project accounting activities (if applicable).
  • Contribute to improving the internal control environment and promoting financial accountability.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as 
    ICAN
    ACCA
    , or 
    CPA
     is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 
    3 years of relevant experience
     in financial management or accounting.
  • Working knowledge of 
    Nigerian tax laws
    , financial regulations, and 
    IFRS
    .
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems).
  • Strong skills in 
    MS Excel
     and basic financial analysis.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a 
    donor-funded
     or 
    non-profit
     organisation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with 
    project finance
     and 
    multi-currency accounting
     is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
