Job Description
Purpose Statement
- We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Chef to take the lead in our kitchen, crafting meals that are not only nutritious and flavorful but also artfully presented.
- The ideal candidate will have a solid background in health-focused cuisine, exceptional culinary expertise, and a thorough understanding of various dietary needs.
Main Duties and Functions
- Design and prepare wholesome, seasonal, and nutrient-dense dishes that align with the organisation’s health-focused philosophy.
- Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, presentation, and kitchen cleanliness in every dish served.
- Develop creative and innovative recipes that reflect current health trends and cater to diverse customer preferences.
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining a clean workspace.
- Select, source, and oversee the use of fresh, organic, and locally-sourced ingredients whenever feasible.
- Control portion sizes and minimize food waste to optimize cost-efficiency and support sustainable practices.
- Uphold strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Lead, train, and support kitchen staff to ensure consistent execution and high performance.
- Work closely with management to create menus and specials that respond to customer feedback and emerging nutritional trends.
Qualifications
- Higher Education Diploma or equivalent; culinary school training or certification is a plus.
Essential Skills:
- 3 years demonstrated experience as a Chef in a health-conscious or similar culinary setting.
- Strong understanding of nutritional cooking, dietary restrictions, and ingredient alternatives.
- Culinary qualification or relevant certification is preferred.
- Proven leadership abilities with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- A creative mindset and genuine passion for healthy food and overall wellness.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure kitchen environment.
- Solid knowledge of kitchen tools, equipment, and professional cooking techniques.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Knowledge of food labeling and calorie counting.
- Strong teamwork, communication abilities and organizational skills.
