Job Description

Role Summary

  • The Lead Civil Engineer will oversee the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering works for residential, commercial, and mixed-use real estate developments.
  • This role ensures that all projects meet regulatory standards, align with architectural vision, and are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Design:

  • Lead civil engineering design for site layouts, drainage, roads, water supply, and sewage systems.
  • Collaborate with architects and structural engineers to integrate civil works into overall project designs.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.

Construction Oversight:

  • Supervise site preparation, earthworks, and infrastructure installation.
  • Review contractor work, approve technical submittals, and resolve construction issues.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Team & Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage and mentor junior engineers and site supervisors.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and government agencies.
  • Provide technical reports and updates to senior management and investors.

Cost & Schedule Control:

  • Prepare budgets, cost estimates, and project timelines.
  • Monitor expenditures and progress to ensure projects remain financially viable.
  • Manage change orders and mitigate risks that could affect delivery.

Challenges in Real Estate Context:

  • Regulatory Approvals: Navigating permits and compliance with urban planning authorities.
  • Cost Control: Balancing high-quality infrastructure with budget constraints.
  • Stakeholder Expectations: Aligning engineering solutions with investor and client demands.
  • Sustainability: Incorporating eco-friendly designs (rainwater harvesting, green infrastructure).

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience: 8–12+ years in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in real estate or property development projects.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of land development, drainage, and utility systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
